RUSSIA - 2008 Work Permit Quota Approved

 

As of January 23, 2008, the Russian Government has set the national work permit quota for 2008 at 1,828,245. This figure encompasses all types of work permits for all locations in Russia, including permits for low-skilled workers from former Soviet countries, and highly skilled workers from visa countries.

The work permit quota for highly skilled workers has doubled from last year's quota to 672,304. The quota for low-skilled workers has been significantly reduced from the 2007 quota of six million to 1,155,941.

The number of work permits reserved for the Moscow region has not yet been determined.
